Lyme Disease Series - Part VII

Seventh in our series of tips on Lyme disease is a completion to the question, "Can Lyme disease be cured?"

It would appear that everyone agrees that a “Cure” is a condition of the body returning to health. If it is true that “Cure” is a restoration of health and thereby the absence of symptoms, then “Disease” is a loss of health with the onset of symptoms.

We are really discussing the role of the bugs versus the role of the body in creating disease, and the role of the absence of bugs versus the role of the body restoring health.

Do we suppose that bacteria and viruses are somehow stronger during the winter months? After all, winter is the time of year that people typically get sick the most with infections. Of course not!

The bacteria and viruses don’t somehow get stronger in wintertime. The human body is weakened by the extreme cold and inactivity, low vit. D from lack of sunshine, not to mention the mental and emotional fear that has been ingrained in us by the media that “We are entering flu season!”

So we see that whether we are talking about Lyme bacteria or the flu, when the body is optimally healthy we enjoy a symptom-free life. When the body is weakened we experience dis-ease.

When a person gets over strep throat they are cured and the symptoms go away with or without antibiotics within 10 days. Are ALL the strep bacteria gone? No, and none of the doctors seem too concerned as long as your symptoms go away.

Does the fact that you still have some Strep bacteria mean you will get strep throat again? Are you a ticking time bomb just waiting to go off? No! If you go to a rock concert and yell and scream, while drinking copious amounts of alcohol, and smoke, then the mucus membranes in the throat will be damaged and the Strep bacteria, which were always there even in the healthy throat, create the “strep throat” illness symptoms again.

“But this is Lyme disease!” I can hear people saying. “But I was completely healthy before I got bitten by a tick!” Of course the bacteria do matter once it has gotten out of control in a person’s body. And no, you were not optimally healthy before you got bitten, even if you were a tri-athlete. No bacteria can thrive out of control in an optimally healthy human.

In medical “science” it is convenient in a disease like Lyme disease, where the laboratory tests have such a high rate of false-negative tests, that after a course of antibiotics a person is often proclaimed cured, when the follow-up lab tests come back negative. The person with the Lyme disease is left in a perplexing position because often none of their symptoms are gone and their health has definitely not been restored.

This is not good science.

Every flu/cold, infection you ever had in your life is likely still in your body. Kind of makes one go, "Hmmmm!"

Do I believe that Lyme disease is curable? Yes absolutely, to the degree that your body can be repaired. If your body has been damaged beyond repair by the medicines, by accidents, by surgeries, by radiation, by trauma by any means, it will be limited to that degree.

The restoration of health, “CURE” is the result of facilitating the restoration of the integrity and function of every aspect of the body, mind, and spirit. Every organ, system, tissue, and cell must be restored to optimum integrity all at the same time.

This is the goal of American Biological Medicine, to use the best scientific understanding and to push the natural science as we understand it, beyond the simplistic blood tests, and yes, it is simplistic to base health on the presence or absence of bacteria or antibodies present in the blood, to work with the perspective that at no time can or should a doctor harm one part of the body in order to correct another.

When through whatever methods, natural or otherwise, a person experiences a restoration of health, by definition they are cured.

My sixth tip on Lyme disease deals with the realities of damage due to infection and also from treatments.

I have made the analogy of LD being like having termites in the wall of your house. You can kill the termites (Lyme bacteria) but it does nothing to repair the damage already done to the wood of your house (body). Any stiff wind can further damage your now weakened house.

People come to the Hansa Center from all over the world. They are damaged often beyond repair from the illness and the previous aggressive treatments.
At the Hansa Center, we do not specialize in the treatment of diseases, such as Lyme disease. We are never saying thus saith me you have Lyme bacteria and we are going to give you such and such remedy and kill the bugs for your body. We specialize in facilitating the restoration of what can be restored.

We definitely do not represent here on Facebook, or anywhere else, that we can get everyone well, nor keep everyone well. We are not God, nor do we desire to play God.
What we represent is what we believe is the most ideal way to facilitate the body's ability to heal. We cannot make any guarantee except that we will do all we can to undo the damage and relieve the suffering to the best of our ability.

There is no arrogance in Biological Medicine, just the humbleness of knowing how limited all of us in health care are in the total scheme of things.

This is the healing philosophy that I would suggest if you were my mother, sister, brother, wife, child, and father...as a matter of fact it is what they all have benefited from over the last twenty years.
Almost 100% of our patients have experienced the full gamut of huge amounts of antibiotics and show the damage, possibly permanent damage as a result. This damage may predispose them to recurrent infections, to say the least.
I feel that often people make less than optimal health care choices at the front end of their illness that set the tone for the rest of their lives. They then are greatly upset when we cannot put them back together. Better to adopt a more rounded treatment approach from the start, that may indeed include a short period of antibiotics, but carefully selected and balanced with the natural treatment techniques and philosophy expounded by those trained in Biological Medicine.

I am writing these Health tips in order for people who are chronically ill and have been damaged from the illness and possibly their treatments, to do more than just "kill the termites", but to "repair the wood" so they can have the most secure "house" possible. I also hope that those people who took a different path with less than optimal results might be able to advise others who are just diagnosed with an alternate path that might just help eliminate much needless suffering.

In the fifth tip of our series on Lyme disease, I want to answer the question several people have posed to me. Do I believe that even late stage, neurological, and chronic Lyme disease can be truly cured?

I am a huge believer that LD can be cured, not just put into remission!
Remission is a drug-induced illusion of health. Remission might as well be thought of as magic. In this grand illusion, if you take the pills/IV's away, the reality behind the illusion is that you still have the illness.

I do not believe in destroying the body in an effort to theoretically kill all of the bacteria. I estimate, based upon research in infectious disease, that if you could eliminate 75-85% of the bacteria AND restore all of the other structural, chemical, stress, and bioenergetic problems, that you could have a complete restoration of health.
If you maintain your newfound health, you will enjoy good health for the rest of your life.

Much of the world has gotten lazy with the advent of illusionary pharmaceutical drugs. With drugs you don't have to learn to watch what you eat...you can always take a purple pill for upset stomach. If you don't control your thinking you can always take an antidepressant for the resulting depression. If you get a fever you can just knock it out with Tylenol.

If you learn nothing during the journey through restoring health, you will likely get another chance to learn the lessons of healthy living when your illness comes back again, again.

In the same way that if I had lung cancer from smoking and stopped smoking until I was cured, I wouldn't start smoking again after I was well and expect not to get cancer again.
Illness teaches us the benefits of living a healthy, happy, well-balanced life.
If you take a person who is cured of Lyme disease who starts working too much, eating too much, not controlling their thoughts, words, emotions, reactions, and responses, and continues subjecting their body, mind, and spirit to extremes of negativity, and harmful lifestyles, it will only result in a return of illness.
The resulting recurrence of illness is not a coming out of remission...it is the effect of trashing the body in which health had been restored.
To be cured is to have truly restored and repaired all that was wrong in your body, mind, and spirit. Sustained health is the product of properly maintaining your body, mind, spirit.
I believe through the healing philosophies of Biological Medicine, if given enough time and resources, and through thoughtfully applied knowledge and healing modalities, a cure can be had for anyone who does not have permanently destroyed tissues.

Fourth in our series on Lyme disease deals with a question on everyone's mind. Is your treatment plan headed for "cure" or will it only create remission? Do you know the difference between cure and remission?
The answer to this question is pivotal in understanding the different treatment philosophies in the world. The is on the mind of every person treated with conventional medicine, “Am I a ticking time bomb?” “Will the hell that I have gone through just come back someday?”
There are fortunate individuals who take just antibiotics and experience a restoration of asymptomatic life. From the poll I had on here the other day it appears that most people reading these Health tips have been treated with huge amounts of antibiotics for extended periods.
The following will provide you with definitions from medical dictionaries so that you can come to your own answer. The definition of health, cure, remission, allopathic and biological medicine are pivotal in coming to your answer.
HEALTH:
noun.
1. The overall condition of an organism at a given time.
2. Soundness, especially of body or mind; freedom from disease or abnormality.
CURE:
noun.
1. Restoration of health; recovery from disease.
2. A method or course of medical treatment used to restore health.
3. An agent, such as a drug, that restores health; a remedy.
REMISSION:
a. Medicine; Abatement or subsiding of the symptoms of a disease.
b. The period during which the symptoms of a disease abate or subside.
ALLOPATHIC MEDICINE:
A health care philosophy pertaining to conventional medical treatment of disease symptoms that uses substances or techniques to oppose or suppress the symptoms.
COMPLEMENTARY OR INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE: A health care philosophy that incorporates a mixed philosophy of conventional and natural medicine.
BIOLOGICAL MEDICINE: A pure, unmixed philosophy of health care that recognizes that all aspects of the body, mind, and spirit must be addressed and brought into optimal integrity before lasting restoration of health can be achieved.
When in remission one is only talking about the suppression of symptoms and therefore the causes remain underneath the medication and the symptoms even if gone for a period of time without medication, has a strong likelihood of returning since the cause was never addressed.
When you take a painkiller for the symptom of chronic headaches, during the period of no pain …you are in remission.
When a person takes antibiotics for a chronic infection, such as Lyme disease, without addressing the underlying systemic issues that lead to the actual "dis-ease", and because the bacterial overgrowth is indeed a only symptom of underlying problems in the body…you are most often only in remission.
Simply having Lyme bacteria and co-infections in a person's body does not mean that person will ever come down with the disease. This means the presence of bacteria is not the ultimate cause of LD. The bacteria might be thought of as the spark, while the weaknesses in the body are the dynamite! No weakness equals no explosion.
When the symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis are suppressed through drug therapy…you are in remission.
When conventional chemotherapy and radiation destroy cancer cells, and the tumor is only the most evident symptom of systemic problems, without addressing the many causes of the cancerous process…this is remission.
If you have a knife stuck in your leg and you take morpheme and the pain goes away…you are in remission!
When you remove the knife and stitch up the wound and it heals…you are cured.
When all of the various causes and interferences to the optimum integrity and function of the many systems and tissues of the body are removed and the optimum integrity and function of every aspect of the body, mind, and spirit are restored in any named illness…you are cured…the pain goes away, the paralysis reverses, the bacteria become none pathological, the tumor disappears. The symptoms will not return unless you redo the things that set the problem in motion in the first place.
The primary difference between the remedies of Biological Medicine and drugs of Allopathic Medicine is that every remedy is used with the sole purpose of restoring some aspect of dysfunction of the body, which once corrected the remedy can be discontinued. The majority of drugs seek only to suppress symptoms and therefore these drugs must be taken for the remainder of the person’s life.
One of the most disrespected aspects of natural and conventional medicine’s view of the human body, and its suffering, is that there is little understanding and respect for the wisdom of the body.
It is this understanding and wisdom of what problems the body is attempting to adapt to that differentiates the Doctor using Biological Medicine from that of conventional, allopathic medical doctors who justify their suppressive treatments by the disappearance of the symptoms, in spite of what the body is attempting to overcome, and in spite of the secondary side-effects.
Most of the best Biological Medicine hospitals of Europe and those few Biological Medicine clinics in the United States have completely moved away from the treatment of diseases and have moved to the incredibly huge task of systematically of going painstakingly through every issue that can be found in the entire organism of the human.
The philosophy of Biological Medicine seeks to provide the body with the building blocks and corrective bio-information and therapeutics to restore the optimum integrity and function of the entire body, mind, and spirit. From this treatment philosophy the causes and the symptoms of “disease” falls away, and “Health is restored” resulting in cure...in spite of the presence of bacteria!
So based upon these definitions, are you headed for cure or remission?

Lyme Disease Series - Part III

Can Lyme disease really be cured? This is the third in a series on Lyme disease.
The question of whether or not Lyme disease can be cured is a recurring question that is asked every doctor who is faced with a person suffering from the disease.
The term “Cure” is almost taboo in the healing arts profession. No doctor that I know of is willing to say they can cure any illness…especially not Lyme disease.
Before we just say an absolute “No” that Lyme disease is incurable lets see what the best medical dictionaries define the word “Cure” as meaning. After all, these medical dictionaries are the basis of what even the most agnostic doctors hold up as “truth.”
The following definitions are taken from Dorland’s Medical Dictionary and Stedman’s Medical Dictionary.
CURE
noun.
1. Restoration of health; recovery from disease.
2. A method or course of medical treatment used to restore health.
3. An agent, such as a drug, that restores health; a remedy.
4. Something that corrects or relieves a harmful or disturbing situation.
CURE
verb.
1. To restore to health.
2. To effect a recovery from: cure a cold.
3. To remove or remedy (something harmful or disturbing): cure an evil.
Reading these definitions one immediately notices that at no time does the word cure mean all the bacteria are gone.
A patient of mine said it best on a Lyme forum, “Antibiotics are for killing, not healing.” Now doctors may read this and say the antibiotic “killing” of the bacteria creates healing by eliminating the cause of the disease…but in their own scientific scrutiny does this line of thought hold up to its claims? Not according to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), the worlds leading, peer-reviewed, medical journal.
Articles in the JAMA encourage doctors to stop treating every suspected infection with antibiotics. This is because international research, which is cited by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have demonstrated that a doctor will usually prescribe antibiotics for a “routine” sinus, ear, eye, respiratory infection for approximately 7-10 days. What the research found is that even without prescribing antibiotics that the infection was resolved with 7-10 days.
So the medical research and the medical definition of cure show that a “Cure” is not the absence of bacteria. The people experienced a “Restoration of health” without killing all of the bacteria. And yes for those of you who might say the body killed the bacteria via the immune system, this too is not borne out by the medical research that reveals the Strep or whatever bacteria is was is still in the body, only it is now non-pathological.

Lyme Disease Series - Part II

This is the second tip in a series on understanding what it really takes to get the quality of life back that was lost due to infections, such as Lyme disease. So much has been written by doctors and researchers about how to kill bacteria and dissolve biofilms.

It has been ingrained into our core beliefs that in Lyme Disease and other chronic infections that a person will not get well until all the bacteria are killed. This is a myth in medicine.

I guarantee that even if you could be irradiated, like a hunk of meat, and kill every single Lyme bacteria instantly, you would still have most if not all of your symptoms for a long time, if that was all you did. Health is not the absence of bacteria. It is the restoration of optimum coherence on every level of human existence.

While bringing down the bacterial population is desirable, the reality is that you will be well when the structural integrity and function integrity of the entire human organism has be restored.

So many people are dutifully taking their antibiotics, either prescription or botanticals, and running frequencies to kill various bacteria, and have been doing so for years wondering why they are not feeling any better.

For those of you who are doing a very much comprehensive approach and are still not getting well, that just means that either your doctors are missing some key issue, or time is what is needed for the body's tissues to heal.

I ask that you consider every infection you have ever had. Generally, you might have taken an antibiotic for a short time, or just waited, and your body got over it. All of the bacteria and viruses were not completely killed, yet your body was able to control them and restore the balance.

Following are examples of various doctors who have achieved lasting health restoration in many people previously diagnosed with LD by identifying the primary areas of interference.

It must be understood that optimum health is the point at which the body, mind, and spirit can adapt instantly and correctly to any changes in their internal and external environment. Loss of this adaptability arises prior to the occurrence of what is known as LD.

Every aspect of the human condition must be explored, identified, and corrected at its source before lasting health can restored.

Latent or recent infection with Lyme bacteria leading to the eventual diagnosis of LD, in each case, is secondary to the underlying interferences from either inherited or acquired disturbances to adaption.

Dr. Osvaldo Font, M.D. in Puerto Rico, who was recently nominated for the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his development of Electro-Neuro-Medullar Therapy, has identified an electrical resistance or blockage in the spinal cord, which causes a short-circuit in the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. Once this accumulated energy is discharged and the current is restored, the neurological symptoms and pain fall away. It has been reported that Dr. Font’s treatments have facilitated almost 500 people to be able to get out of their wheelchairs, many of whom were previously thought to be suffering from chronic Lyme disease.

Dr. E. Mark Haacke, Ph.D. is the inventor of MRI-angiography, and is the leading expert on measuring the blood flow dynamics of the neurovascular system. He is the founder of International Society of Neurovascular Disease (
www.isnvd.org) Dr. Haacke has research data soon to be published that defines findings associated degenerative neurological conditions such as MS, ALS, Alzheimer’s, and other neurodegenerative diseases that are often associated with LD. His research reveals disturbances in vascular flow in the veins of the brain and neck, the ultimate correction of which has restored neurological function in people with previously diagnosed with M.S. symptoms, neurological diseases, autonomic disorders, pain syndromes, and Lyme disease.

There are many other doctors that could be mentioned for demonstrating how what was thought to be completely an infectious disease is actually a loss of adaption in the body, possibly set in motion originally by infection.

Every doctor trained in the healing philosophies of Biological Medicine is accustomed to seeing often rapid, and transformative restorations of health after correcting everything that is interfering with the body’s own restorative abilities.

The point here is to show that once the diagnosis is made of Lyme disease, 99% of doctors focus their primary efforts toward annihilating the bacteria and coinfections, and all of the other treatments revolve around that primary focus.

In chronic Lyme disease especially, it appears that the center of focus must be placed on restoring optimum coherence within the body, with the microbial issues being addressed as a secondary focus.

It is interesting that many people who would have adamantly defended the fact that they are sick because they have Lyme disease, had to agree that in the end the treatment of bacteria ultimately played only a small role in the restoring of their quality of life, once they were restored to health through the efforts of the doctors of the type presented herein.

Lyme Disease Series - Part I

This is the first in a series on Lyme Disease and other infections. Bacteria-focused Treatments in Lyme Disease May be Incorrect.

In most Lyme disease treatment philosophies the focus of every treatment revolves around the killing of bacteria and coinfections.

Whether the treatment is conventional antibiotics, botanical antimicrobial supplements, or antimicrobial rife-frequencies all of these treatment focus on the “bugs” as the ultimate cause of dis-ease, and their annihilation the ultimate cure. Is this treatment focus correct?
Clinical research suggests that in the many of the people who experience long-term recovery from chronic Lyme disease (CLD) the bacteria and coinfections played only a secondary role in their recovery.

The focus of this tip is to propose a bio-centric, instead of microbe-centric focus in the treatment of people suffering from what is generally called CLD.

While many doctors and people can point to remissions in individuals, brought about by antibiotic-type treatments, the ultimate role played by these drugs/supplements is over-glamorized, while the restorative functions of the human body is downplayed or ignored altogether. Health restoration is a function of the body, not a function of a drug.

In an illness where all LD laboratory tests demonstrate a high, false-negative rate, even in profoundly sick LD cases, the extensive antibiotic treatment and subsequent finding of a negative lab test means very little to validate the effectiveness of the treatment.

In my opinion, having interviewed thousands of people treated primarily with long-term, natural, and conventional antibacterial medications, the vast majority of people report that they have nowhere near the quality of life they once enjoyed.
While bringing down the population of offending microbes is important, their complete annihilation is not ultimately what creates the restoration of optimum health

Interestingly, when I spoke with the owners to two of the top Lyme research laboratories, each told me that they had never seen anyone's blood tests completely clear of the Lyme bacteria, even after years of antibiotic cocktails, rife treatments, botanical formulas, homeopathic remedy, or silver products. Yet, many of the people tested had regained their quality of life for many years and were no longer considered sick.

It turns out we all have Strep bacteria in our respiratory tract, but we may never have "Strep throat." This same Strep bacteria we were told could kill us...and it could in the right body environment.

It is the same with LD. A person may always have the bacteria yet never have the disease as long as they maintain a healthy condition.
Just testing positive to having a certain bacteria or virus does not mean you will come down with a disease from that bug. Nor are you a ticking time bomb.
Treat the bugs and more bugs will follow. Treat the human condition and health will follow.
